Dumb it Down

Available now!

Formed in 1981 in the suburbs of NYC, this Reagan-era power pop & punk band has just released their first full-length album featuring 14 newly recorded songs.

The Rabies released two 7” records – (my girl’s a) Hologram in 1982, and a four-song EP called Labor Day in 1983 – and during that time they played across the Northeast from their debut at CBGB to the college circuit. It was a great run, but only lasted a few years. The members moved on to form other bands, but remained friends.

The Rabies

Recently, they noticed original copies of their Hologram single getting a lot of attention and selling for $200+ on Discogs. They decided to record and release a new single Adderall Girl, their third single, which then inspired the recording of this LP.

The four original Rabies – Torin, Kevin, George, and John – recorded this LP in Brooklyn NY with Producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Ramones, Lemonheads, Sebadoh) and in Westchester NY with Producer Peter Denenberg (Jim Carroll, Iggy Pop, New York Dolls). The album was mastered by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Ramones, Sex Pistols).

Dumb It Down is now available for purchase on Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon (and on other popular services that do not pay artists fairly).
